TRANSACTION OF THIS YEAR’S TOURISM INDONESIA MART & EXPO IN BANDAR LAMPUNG SHOWS A DECREASE
Bandar Lampung, 21 October 2011. The 17th Indonesian annual travel mart, Tourism Indonesia Mart & Expo (TIME) or ‘Pasar Wisata Indonesia’ 2011 held in Bandar Lampung on 12 – 14 October 2011 has booked an estimated transaction of US$15.7 million, or a decrease of approximately 10% from last year’s TIME held in Lombok.
The Steering Committee Chairman of TIME 2011, Mrs. Meity Robot, commented on the decreased transaction of this year’s TIME in Lampung was due mainly to a number of reasons. “Lampung’s Culture & Tourism Office as the Local Organizing Committee had provided a limited number hotel accommodation for buyers and travel writers. However, we managed to invite new buyers from five countries, namely Slovakia, Mexico, Czech Republic, The Phillippines and Thailand.
“We also saw decreasing number of seller this year. This is mainly due to a reduction of exhibition area compared to last year’s TIME. The smaller exhibition space was adjusted to the one available at the Novotel Hotel Lampung, the venue of TIME 2011. Moreover, almost fifty percent of sellers were first timers which included sellers from Lampung province,” Meity concluded.
At the Press Time at Closing of TIME 2011 the Steering Committee Chairman of TIME 2011 had reported that TIME 2011 was attended b 77 Buyers from 27 countries, and 84 Sellers from 64 companies from various provinces of Indonesia. Top Five Buyers consisted of Netherlands, India, Singapore, USA, Indonesia, Korea, and Singapore; whereas, Sellers were dominated by Jakarta, Bali, Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Java, East Java, Lampung, North Sumatera, Central Sulawesi, and West Nusa Tenggara. The percentage of Sellers based on industry is Hotel, Resort & Spa (75%), NTO (10%), Tour Operator/Travel Agent (7%), Adventure/Activity Holiday (3%), Airline (1.5%), and Others (Hotel Management, Tourism Board, Tourism Organization & Travel Portal (8.5%).
